Wasted Energy

Posted on Thursday, October 4, 2012 in Uncategorized

“There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.”
~ Epictetus

I’m leaving for a funeral in an hour.  One truth is running through my head:

Life is short.  Use it wisely.

Q – How is life wasted?

A – Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.

Resist the temptation to worry.

Fight down the lie that worry can help.

Don’t worry alone.  Pray for help, and find others to join your journey.

Don’t waste time obsessing about what people think of you, but hold on to the ones that care.

We can’t change the past, but we can ruin the present by worrying about the future.

May we all have the wisdom to embrace our Savior and experience freedom from the shackles of worry.

    I Love that line!

Worry (Anxiety) is something I have struggled with my entire life, but recently I found a definition that I love.

“Anxiety is practicing failure in advance.” – Seth Godin

As Michael J. Fox said, “If I imagine the worst, and it happens, then I’ve lived through it twice.”

You’re right, Scott. Worry is a wasted energy and keeps us from doing great things, or better yet, keeps God from doing great things through us.

    Love this post!

  2. Dan, it’s been a tough week on a few fronts.
Your email is both gracious and life-bringing, thank you!
