The Future

Posted on Thursday, November 15, 2012 in Uncategorized

I work at TreeHouse, and at TreeHouse we have four outcomes we track and are proud to explain.

Graduate High School

We are excited that TreeHouse teens are 24% more likely to graduate than their peers. That’s great news, but we want more for them.

Plan for After High School

93% of TreeHouse youth in grades 10-12 report they’ve begun making plans for after high school

Today is the TreeHouse Opportunity Fair.

Opportunity Fair is a night to get serious about the future. Tonight we will meet representatives from colleges, trade schools, the Armed Services, and future employers.

The Present

For some the future looks bright.

For others stressful relationships, challenging situations and circumstances that seem out of control keep us from seeing ahead.

We Need Peace

Jesus Christ “came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.” 1

My friend Mike VonWachenfeldt explains that, “a significant aspect of this gospel message, peace. It is a message that is given to those who are far off and also so very near to the gospel, near to the heart of God if they would only accept it.

It is a peace that can lift you out of and above your circumstances and a peace that can carry you through your circumstances even if deliverance from the problems at hand may not be foreseeable.

There are any number of things that can drag us down, illnesses, loss of loved ones, strained relationships but Jesus offers peace to us in, throughout, and out of those circumstances.

If your heart is in turmoil this morning, may He calm your storm and bring you peace.” 2

When the present and the future feel uncertain scary or worse I like to pray, “please God help me…I need your peace.”

It’s not a magic wand, but I am amazed how often the God of peace quietly brings peace into my life, and can into your life, and the lives of your loved ones.
