You Can Rest Now
Last year I read Grace by Max Lucado in which I found some profoundly good news.
Jesus does not say, “Come to me, all you who are perfect and sinless.” Just the opposite. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28 NASB).
There is no fine print.
A second shoe is not going to drop.
God’s promise has no hidden language. Let grace happen, for heaven’s sake. No more performing for God, no more clamoring after God. Of all the things you must earn in life, God’s unending affection is not one of them. You have it. Stretch yourself out in the hammock of grace.
Lay ‘Em Down
I’m on a private retreat – yesterday and today – but I can’t stay alone.
To tired, weary, worn out people like me and you, Jesus Christ said, “If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest.” 1
It’s a message many of us need to hear.
Yesterday I sent this song to a friend, and today I’m leaving it with the rest of you mysilentscream readers.
“Lay ‘Em Down” by Needtobreathe keeps echoing through my mind, so here it is so it will echo through yours too.
Quiet Rest
In the quiet can learn that we are lovable and that we can be and need to be loved. When we rest in God’s love — truly allow God into our being — we can acknowledge our imperfections, we can feel our wounds, we can see our scars and admit our sins. When we rest we can be quiet. In the quiet is God waiting for us.
“Be still, and know that I am God! Our God says, “Calm down, and learn that I am God!” 1
Today, this is my quiet whisper.
A Trap, A Treasure & A Tip
As I’ve said, I don’t believe on New Years resolutions I believe in New Years gifts. Gifts that we give ourselves.
Resolutions that I had made in the part were well-intentioned, but often I gave up or got distracted.
I believe in action. I don’t want to just plan to do things, I believe in doing. I’m ambitious and encouraged others to have ambition.
Trap
I am a notorious multi-tasker. As some women in my life have said, I can multitask as effectively as a woman. I’m certain that’s not true, but I am a notorious multi-tasker.
