Speed From Greed

Posted on Friday, August 12, 2011 in Emotional, Financial, How To, Spiritual, Values

We’ve had a garage sale at our house this week.

I’ve noticed two things that disturb me.

First, far too many of the things in our house arrived in our house because of my greed.

Second, I am not alone.  Many of our customers bought with greedy abandon.

For the LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have … pierced themselves with many sorrows…

so run

from all these evil things.” *

Greed is enticing.
Greed is deceitful.
Greed is deceptive.
Greed is a trap.

It’s cost awareness that prompted President Obama’s health care plan.  It’s cost awareness that prompted his supporters to support his plan.  And, it’s cost awareness that prompts his detractors to scream and howl.

I must admit that the dollar signs and costs of the health care plan has caused me to glaze over.  I also glaze over when:

- I cannot grasp the benefit of searching for Noah’s Ark

- I cannot grasp the complexity of the debt problems in Greece

What Will Our Future Look Like?

For hundreds of athletes this is an exciting day. Today at “National Signing Day” young football players will reveal at which university they will transform from boys to men. Millions of dollars will be spent on indirectly paying young men to play football as a fundraiser for the university.

Fans of the chosen universities will celebrate at their good fortune. Hopes will rise for the winners and hopes will be ravaged for those left wondering what their favorite university will do without this or that teenager.

The Future Is Uncertain

Got Money Stress?

Please keep reading. This advice might make your life better! Seriously!

No gimmick, no scheme, no quick fix, I just found some common sense that was not common to me.

I’m not working today because I’m on a furlough. I’m not being paid to not work. The economic challenges hit TreeHouse.

At the risk of sounding like a martyr, Amy and I still struggle with the financial impact of my choice to work at TreeHouse. In 1990 during my first month at TreeHouse I made $30. As the months went by I had several paychecks of less than $200.
