My Silent Scream Is Silent Today

When I was a child I was heartbroken watching the Roots mini-series on TV.

I thought, “I sure am glad that the slave days are over.”

As an adult I found out just how wrong I was.

It’s Just Not Cricket

My neighbor, Tyko Jaddunath, plays cricket for the Minnesota Windies.
Yesterday I went to their cricket match.

What’s cricket?

According to Wikipedia.com, “Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of 11 players on a field, at the centre of which is a rectangular 22-yard long pitch. One team bats, trying to score as many runs as possible while the other team bowls and fields, trying to dismiss the batsmen and thus limit the runs scored by the batting team. A run is scored by the striking batsman hitting the ball with his bat, running to the opposite end of the pitch and touching the crease there without being dismissed. The teams switch between batting and fielding at the end of an innings.” 1

Nearing Home: Life, Faith, and Finishing Well by Billy Graham

I’m forty-nine years old. I don’t feel old, but I don’t feel young either.

I spend my life encouraging others to live their life well.  Mysilentscream.com exists — through stories, some tips, and some Scriptures — to inspire you to live well.

As I’m nearing fifty I’m looking for “older” people to inspire me to live the rest of my life well too.  Billy Graham’s book Nearing Home: Life, Faith, and Finishing Well seemed like a good fit.

Billy Graham’s book is honest, vulnerable, and inspiring.

Feeling Hopeless – Two Lies & The Truth

Posted on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 in Emotional, Intellectual, Relational, Spiritual, Values

Many cutters cut because they believe lies about their nature.  They feel that their very existence is under a foreboding cloud that leave them hopeless to change.

Hopeless Lie – I Deserve It

“I’ve never made my daughter feel inadequate.  She’s an honor student.  I just don’t understand why she says she cuts herself because she’s “a failure at life.”

“My brother feels so guilty all the time.    He cuts himself and says he deserves it.”
