I love that my life is filled with people like my friend Bianca. Her courage, determination and resolve inspires me to be better at what I do.

Sometimes I feel like a failure.
Whether it’s feeling overwhelmed, “I don’t have enough money”, “there’s not enough time”, or just being lazy, a fear of failure or the fear of success, or the classic “I’ll get to it later”, sometimes things just don’t get done.
What else can go wrong?
So many things, including:
– Unexpected car repairs: ~$600
– Two computers that stopped working
– Late for work
– Misplaced paperwork
And, that’s just in the last three days

Watching the movie Lion King this week reminded me of that kind of unfailing love.
Simba lost his father King Mufasa through the treachery of his uncle. As time passes the young adult, but rebellious king-to-be is avoiding responsibility accompanied by his friends Timon and Pumbaa.
Rafiki, the monkey-mentor, led Simba through the wilderness to a pool of water. Ripples form across the surface of the water, reflecting Mufasa’s face. Simba has a vision of his father speaking to him. 2

While driving through the mountains of Colorado more than once I felt afraid. While there are times when fear is unwarranted, trying to drive along a road, without guardrails, with blind curves which with almost 180-degree turns, I felt the discomfort — my fear — was justified.
Some fears are justified, some not. Sometimes we’re blinded by fear. 1

I am the grandson of a depression survivor. My maternal grandfather Ray Brausam was frugal man. I admire how he found ways to save money.
One of the ways he saved money was finding uses for things other people discarded. He sold cans and newspapers to recyclers to earn extra cash. My dad later helped me to do the same thing.
By Nature I Am A “Saver”
I am no where near as frugal as my grandfather, nor as smart as my dad, but I did manage to take the saving strategy to an extreme in the wrong direction.
