BiancaRamirezandfriendTo paraphrase a great quote: “Good people inspire themselves; great people inspire others.”

I love that my life is filled with people like my friend Bianca. Her courage, determination and resolve inspires me to be better at what I do.

Thanks to Bianca, and all the rest of you who don’t settle and want more

7 Success Tips

Posted on Friday, August 31, 2012 in Emotional, How To, Relational, Social, Spiritual, Values

Sometimes I feel like a failure.

Whether it’s feeling overwhelmed, “I don’t have enough money”, “there’s not enough time”, or just being lazy, a fear of failure or the fear of success, or the classic “I’ll get to it later”, sometimes things just don’t get done.

What else can go wrong?

So many things, including:
– Unexpected car repairs: ~$600
– Two computers that stopped working
– Late for work
– Misplaced paperwork
And, that’s just in the last three days

How Can We Fight Back?

Extravagant Love

Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love“, the singer sang.  1

Rafiki, the monkey-mentor, led Simba through the wilderness to a pool of water. Ripples form across the surface of the water, reflecting Mufasa’s face. Simba has a vision of his father speaking to him. 2

Some fears are justified, some not.  Sometimes we’re blinded by fear. 1

Blinded By Fear

Robert McGee has identified nine reactions — what I’m calling blind spots — people have when encumbered by a fear of failure.

Yesterday I identified the first four reactions, here are the other five:

Savers, Throwers & “I Need That!”

Posted on Monday, August 8, 2011 in Emotional, Financial, How To, Intellectual, Relational, Social, Values

I am the grandson of a depression survivor.  My maternal grandfather Ray Brausam was frugal man.  I admire how he found ways to save money.

One of the ways he saved money was finding uses for things other people discarded.  He sold cans and newspapers to recyclers to earn extra cash.   My dad later helped me to do the same thing.

By Nature I Am A “Saver”

I am no where near as frugal as my grandfather, nor as smart as my dad, but I did manage to take the saving strategy to an extreme in the wrong direction.
