I Had A Dream

Posted on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in Emotional, Values

Some of you know me better than others.
- Some of you are my closest friends and family.
- Some of you have known me for years; and others for a short time.
- Still; others of you only know me by what you read.

So, to each of you let me take a moment to reveal something about myself.

If there is one thing I am most proud of in my life — one trait that I am want most to be known for — it’s that I am unpretentious. I am genuine.
WYSIWIR: What you see is what is real.

Squirrel Circus

Posted on Thursday, December 8, 2011 in How To, Intellectual, Spiritual, Values

Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, “Welcome to the Squirrel Circus!”

This week I’ve introduced you to “White Paws” and “Junior White Paws”, two squirrels who live in our backyard.

These two squirrels are regular visitors, but we didn’t give them nicknames.  Maybe you can think of some?!?

On the left hangs a block of seeds from a tree branch, attached to a rope, attached to an elastic band. In order to reach the block the squirrels have to sit below the block.  They have to crouch down and launch their body up — an equivalent leap for me would be fifteen feet above the ground.  They leap into the air and grab onto the block of seed.

Embrace Wonder

I Love Dragonflies!

I know some people are afraid of them, but I love them.

Every year while whitewater rafting I look forward to the areas of the river where the dragonflies fly.

I love when they hover near me.
I don’t often sit still, but I will when I think they’ll land near me.  I want a better look.
I love their beautiful colors — red, yellow, green and blue of stunning beauty.
Their translucent wings defy gravity.
Their eyes capture an amazing amount of information.
I love their curiosity. And, I am entranced by their gentleness.

Embrace Your Creativity

Posted on Thursday, May 19, 2011 in How To, Intellectual, Spiritual

When I was a little boy my mom and dad taught me to color in coloring books.  When I was in second grade my mom helped me write my first poem.  That was the extent of my artistic success as a child.

Starting in elementary school I felt out of place in art class.  I never understood what to do in art. I felt trapped by my lack of understanding how to do whatever we were assigned to do.
