Halloween

Posted on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in Emotional, Financial, Relational, Social, Spiritual, Values

I hate Halloween!
I love Halloween!
Both sides equally passionate.

Here’s my take, I love people visiting our house.

Every year on October 31st many children and adults come to my front door filled with hope.

They come hoping for a tasty treat.
They come hoping for something to make their life better.

What they get is a smile, a sense of community, and a moment to realize that the world is a better place than it seems.

Playing House

I grew up with my sister Kristie and the two girls next door.  There were many days that a blanket was hung on the front steps from the hand rail on either side of the concrete steps.

In the shade of the blanket we would play “house”.

Kids Playing House

Playing “house” was an activity in which we pretended to be an imaginary family.  “House” had loose rules, roles and responsibilities; unless, of course, I got it wrong.  Which I often did.

Pretend-play was a challenge for me when I was little.

Embrace Your As-Yet Unseen Future

Posted on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in How To, Relational, Spiritual, Values

I told someone this week how special it is to be married to my best friend, have two great kids, have a life-transforming job, and be healthy nearing fifty.

On the other hand, it’s so special to be like the young woman on this picture wondering what the future holds.  Wondering who she will become.

Embrace Your As-Yet Unseen Future

Paul’s getting married.

Krista and Robert are having a baby; Abby & Zach and Sharna & Nate are too!

Tonight I met with some imminent graduates including Angela, Ashtin, Brittany, Caronda and Vincent.
