Secrets, we all have them.
Secrets, we all guard them.
Secrets, we all fear their exposure.
Yesterday I mentioned Josh Groban’s song – Hidden Away.
If you haven’t had a chance to hear it, give it a listen. He opens the song with:
“Over mountains and sky blue seas
On great circles will you watch for me?
The sweetest feeling I’ve got inside
I just can’t wait to get lost in your eyes
And all these words that you meant to say
Held in silence day after day
Words of kindness that our poor hearts crave
Please don’t keep them hidden away”
Sometimes that’s so right on…
And, sometimes we’re so caught up in ourselves we can hardly wait a minute to let someone talk…
Or, maybe that’s just me…
If I wrote this song, and I wrote it honestly I would have to say:
I want to want to free your heart
I want to want to see your heart
And if I want to want to, please don’t keep your heart hidden away
That’s a lot of hesitation.
That’s a lot of qualification.
That’s a lot of honesty.
Sometimes we care much more about ourselves than we want to admit.
Sometimes it’s because we’re selfish.
Other times it’s because we need more attention.
We need more caring support.
How are you doing? Honest?
Are you choosing to be honest?
Honest with yourself?
Honest with others who love you?
