Remember Me by Josh Groban

Posted on Friday, May 3, 2013 in Emotional, Music, Relational, Social, Spiritual, TreeHouse, Values

BloomYesterday as Josh Groban walked toward me I smiled and thought to myself, I wonder if he’ll pause look around the room and ask, “Whose writing all those mysilentscream posts about my songs?”

If you missed those posts, here they are:
Hidden Away
Our Hiding
Secrets & Hiding
Secrets: As If.

Josh Groban and TreeHouse
False Alarms by Josh Groban
Brave by Josh Groban
War At Home by Josh Groban
If I Walk Away by Josh Groban

Human Trafficking and The Prayer by Josh Groban
Believe by Josh Groban
You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban
You Are Loved (Don’t Give Up) by Josh Groban

If he even knew that they had been written, he didn’t ask.

He did kindly accept and return a hug from my friend Ellie, that was special enough.

He sweetly sang and led us all in singing “Happy Birthday” to my friend Jill.

Later, as I stood right behind Josh – with his arm around my friend Fernando – surrounded by a sea of TreeHouse teens I put my hand on his shoulder and said, in the classic way of Jim Carrey, “It was me!

No, I didn’t!

I said, “thank you for your support of TreeHouse.”

Josh replied graciously as the photographers yelled their instructions.

I didn’t expect to meet, talk to, touch, get a re-tweet or a favorite by Josh Groban on Twitter.

I didn’t try to crank up my followers on twitter, my page counts on mysilentscream, or have a reader comment about how insightful I was.

I wrote for two reasons. I was learning and I wanted to share it with others.

Remember by Josh Groban was used on the soundtrack for the movie Troy released in 2004.

While it has sweet sentiments for lovers and loved one, and loved ones left behind – and I hear each of those perspectives – I heard more. Listen.

Remember

Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me, in your memory

Remember, when your dreams have ended
Time can be transcended
Just remember me

I am the one star that keeps burning, so brightly,
It is the last light, to fade into the rising sun

I’m with you
Whenever you tell, my story
For I am all I’ve done

Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me, in your memory
Remember me

I am the one voice in the cold wind, that whispers
And if you listen, you’ll hear me call across the sky

As long as I still can reach out, and touch you
Then I will never die

Remember, I’ll never leave you
If you will only
Remember me

Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me
In your memory

Remember, when your dreams have ended
Time can be transcended
I live forever
Remember me…

As I listened I saw another movie playing in my mind. I saw two men having the worst day of their lives, in agony arguing. Finally, getting in what could have been the last word, he said, “We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” Then he turned and said to a third man, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.

That third man, also having the worst day of his life, suffering in agony, could have focused on his own pain and pity and instead replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” 1

“Remember me…”

And another songwriter sang, “Do not remember the sins of my youth or my acts of rebellion; in keeping with Your faithful love, remember me because of Your goodness, Lord.” 2

“Remember me” is mysilentscream.

1 – Luke 23:41-43, NLT
2 – Psalm 25:7, HCSB
