Mysilentscream is here for you most days. Today #mysilentscream is for YOU to help me.
Today my daughter leaves for the Philippines. By the time many of you read this Shannon will be half a planet away. I’m blessed, thrilled and a little jealous of her. I’m also Shannon’s (“Punka’s”) anxious, unsettled, and already-lonely-for-her dad.
If you’re a praying person please pray for Shannon, her colleagues and her parents who were both just teary-eyed in the living room.
I’ll let Shannon explain more via her supportshannon.com website.
Hello my name is Shannon Volltrauer.
I was born in 1990 in Minneapolis, MN. I grew up going to church with family. and learned from an early age that God loved me and had plans for my life.
Along with our church involvement, I grew up through the programs at TreeHouse. My dad, Scott Volltrauer, has worked at TreeHouse Youth Outreach since before I was born, and much of my life and character was formed by my involvement. TreeHouse is a Christian-based non-profit program serving at-risk teens in Minnesota. I was babysat by TreeHouse kids, was a TreeHouse kid, served TreeHouse kids as a volunteer, and in college, I worked full-time as a summer intern. Since college I have continued serving as a volunteer.
By God’s gracious (and impossible-made-possible) provision, I was able to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Bethel University. I also minored in Biblical and Theological Studies. Much of my time at Bethel was spent cultivating my heart to glorify God by loving Him, and loving His people in the world.
This desire lead me to a discipleship training program in Windsor, CO, called Ellerslie. Ellerslie builds warriors for the Kingdom. I walked away from that training with a greater understanding of who my God is and who I am to be too.
My mission is to Love God and Love His people. I desire to intimately walk with Him through life, and be the hands and feet of Jesus to the nations. Only by my position in Christ and by the Power of the Holy Spirit am I able to live out the plans and purposes God has in store.
I joyfully “go” because He is worthy. May God’s love and faithfulness be made known!
Philippines & Your Prayers
I will be heading to the Philippines with Isaiah 61 Ministries! Our team will be there from April 9th through the 20th. The first half of the trip will be spent serving different Philippine islands; opportunities that we have through Bethsaida Ministries. For the second half of our trip, we will be helping run YOUTH AFLAME, a conference for youth that Bethsaida Ministries has hosted in the past with a huge response from the Filipino teens.
Please pray for our team as we prepare to go, and for the duration of this trip. With a lot of traveling, and a lot of ministering, we will need the Lord’s strength, provision, and power. God WILL be faithful!
Praise God that the last of the finances needed came in last night. This trip is fully funded!
Our team will have many opportunities to teach the youth, and my prayer is that what is heard is the very heartbeat of God, and that He will be glorified. Please pray for His love and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on these kiddos. I am honored and delighted to join Isaiah 61 Ministries for this adventure.
