People Fascinate Me
Have you ever stood in line at a restaurant and paid attention to what someone ordered right before you? Have you ever been in line at a Subway restaurant and thought, “I would never eat that“?
I have. And, I’m not that picky.
Preferences
My friend Hudson and I have laughed together more than once while ordering at Subway. We might order the same bread and meat on our sandwich, but beyond that we order the exact opposite “fixings.”
My friend Greg and I were eating together one night when he saw that I had prepared a Bulgarian shopska salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, onion).
Curious he took a closer look.
I offered, “Would you like some?”
Greg’s replied, “No, thank you. You made a salad out of everything I take off of a salad.”
More Preferences
Growing up with my parents my dad loved liver and onions. My mom prepared it in a tasty manner. My dad loved it. I hated it.
My mom never eats spicy food, I often order the hottest items on the menu.
My son Josh likes creamer in his coffee, I don’t.
My daughter Shannon values what she “puts into her body” and tries to eat very healthy food. I’ve joked she’s a “food Nazi.”
My wife Amy “has to” eat promptly each morning. I prefer to wait three hours.
People — and our preferences, peculiarities and proclivities — fascinate me.
How about you?
