Clearly the consequences of our actions is not always foreseeable:
– Sometimes harmless pranks go horribly wrong
– Oversights have lead to industrial accidents
– Forgotten oil plugs destroy car engines

On a more personal level, sometimes…
– Friendly banter is misunderstood as flirting
– Couples breakup when they want nothing but
– Partyers having fun get alcohol poisoning
– People try meth and become addicts
– Teens have sex and become unintended parents
– Parents try to build a relationship with their kids and it seems to backfire

Even More Unintended Consequences

While on a missions trip in Belize I walked along a beach. I was stopped abruptly and cautioned from approaching the small tree ahead. There in the tree swarmed a small cluster of bees about the size of a football. Those bees were Africanized bees.

Why were African bees in Belize, a country separated from Africa by the entire Atlantic Ocean? In late 1950s, while searching for an increase in honey production, Africanized bees were accidentally released in Brazil. These very defensive bees on the Belizan beach were descendants of the “killer bees” that have spread throughout North, Central and South America. 1

Sometimes we are unaware how a small decision can lead to big problems.

I have no idea what led to the explosion in Texas this week, but I know that we all need God’s wisdom to make wise decisions.

With that in mind, I have learned to pray for wisdom.

God blesses everyone who has wisdom and common sense.
Wisdom is worth more than silver; it makes you much richer than gold.” 2

“God, please give us wisdom so that our decisions would be blessing” is mysilentscream.

2 – Proverbs 3:13-14, CEV
