Mid-Year Freedom Minute

snow-69830_640Freedom is on my mind. In my opinion, freedom is one of our highest values.

It’s intriguing to think about our Creator-God’s first plan: “I have one rule. Enjoy your freedom, but do things my way.” Which  included, “Don’t eat fruit from that tree.” 1

The first people-problem: People chose their own way.

God’s second plan: You want life your way? My way was easy. You’re way is harder ever-after.

In order to make the harder ever-after easier God gave people ten rules to make life easier.

1.  I am God. I am the authority. Avoid confusion, you are not God.

2.  There is no mini-me; only me.

3.  Don’t disrespect me: Only say “God said.”, or “I swear to God”, if you know it’s true.

4.  No forgetting me.  Rest & relax; it’s not all on your shoulders.

5.  I give authority to parents; don’t disrespect them. (If their rules violate God’s go with God’s)

6.  No murder.  Jesus added, “Watch your attitude.  Your anger is murderous.”

7.  No adultery.  Jesus added, “Watch your eyes.  Your lusts are dangerous.”

8.  No stealing.  Respect what belongs to others.

9.  No lying. Respect the reputation of others.

10. No envying. Respect what God provided you.

After God gave the ten rule presentation, the people “trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, ‘Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.’ Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.’ The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.” 2

“Fear God. Find freedom.”  This is mysilentscream.
