I’m Sorry & Thank you

Posted on Friday, December 2, 2011 in Uncategorized

This week my friend Adam took the time to sincerely, and publicly offer his thanks to people that have helped him through a rough stretch of life.  Almost fifty responses later I appreciate that Adam and those who responded to his gratitude have exposed something missing in society — a cultural shortcoming — sincerity.

Sincerity is missing in our society.

Far too many people hide their motives in manipulation.

Adam is a caring, compassionate, courageous, but conflicted person whose worse battles in life have been with himself.

Yesterday I reminded all of us about 12 Times to Say “I’m Sorry.

In those moments I think it’s important to remember the importance of saying I’m sorry to everyone who we’ve hurt.  I think it’s also important to say thank you to everyone who stuck with us, and prayed for us, through our lost times.

If you could see me now you’d see me raise a glass in gratitude to all of the people who stuck with me.

Even though I’m on my own, I know I’m not alone.
Because I know there’s someone, somewhere praying that I make it home
So here’s one from the heart, my life right from the start
I need a home sweet home to call my own

Asking Alexandria is in town this weekend.  They are a metalcore band that some of you might like and others won’t.  They have some good music , but they have more than one song with lyrics I hate.  On the other hand, those lyrics their song Someone, Somewhere sounds like a humble and sincere expression of thanks that I’m talking about today.

Give it a listen.  Here are links to both the acoustic and the studio versions.

Asking Alexandria – Someone, Somewhere

Even though I’m on my own, I know I’m not alone
Because I know there’s someone, somewhere praying that I make it home
So here’s one from the heart, my life right from the start
I need a home sweet home to call my own

It was you that told me I could do this
You put the music in my heart
And how you sang with the band in Memphis
It’s hard just to be strong not knowing if I’ve done you proud
I like to imagine you smile when you hear my songs

Even though I’m on my own, I know I’m not alone
Because I know there’s someone, somewhere praying that I make it home
So here’s one from the heart, my life right from the start
I need a home sweet home to call my own

A letter home and I know we don’t speak much
And we both know I’m not keen to but I think there’s things I’ve left unsaid
I’m okay don’t worry
I wish I’d been a better kid
I’m trying to slow down
I’m sorry for letting you down

Even though I’m on my own, I know I’m not alone
Because I know there’s someone, somewhere praying that I make it home
So here’s one from the heart, my life right from the start
I need a home sweet home to call my own

You know it’s just rock and roll
I know you’re by my side through it all
My terror twin and I
Let’s take over the world

Even though I’m on my own, I know I’m not alone
Because I know there’s someone, somewhere praying that I make it home
So here’s one from the heart, my life right from the start
I need a home sweet home to call my own
