Feel Like A Wreck?!?

Posted on Monday, February 25, 2013 in Emotional, How To, Intellectual, Relational, Social, Spiritual, Values

auto crumblingI had some shame stirring as I woke up: rude to my wife, messy with my stuff, snoring, gingivitis, etc. God knows I can digress if I sit in my junk for long.

When I do, I felt like a wreck. I know some of you have felt the same way:

I’m not even strong enough for myself
I’m falling to pieces
Honestly don’t care about anything anymore
Can’t go on living like this
I need someone to listen. No one can help me.

Fortunately, God is listening.

On the way to work in the back of my mind was playing:

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things
Out of the dust

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things
Out of us

You make me knew
You are making me new 1

Making US New

If you’re a regular mysilentscream reader you’ve probably heard me rant that I love music, but I seldom have music running through my mind.

To have those healing words run through my mind seems like divine intervention. The words were bursting out of me from behind the scenes in my mind.

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” 2

Our Flaws Do Not Have To Define Us

My friends all of our frustrations, struggles, aggravations, guilty-feelings and shame-filled lies will not have the last word.

“All that will not be there … because of the victory of the cross of Christ through which they have been destroyed. And all that will be there in the new creation will be there because of the victory of the cross of Christ through which they have been redeemed.

This is our great hope and joyful expectation. In the midst of all our struggles now, as we confront evils we cannot understand and as we cry out to the God we cannot fully understand, we are urged by Jesus himself to pray, ‘Deliver us from evil’. More than merely a prayer for daily protection, that is a cosmic request that will one day be cosmically answered. God will answer that prayer!” 3

And that is mysilentscream: “God please help me. Deliver us from evil. I can’t help myself.”

As Joyce Meyer tweeted today, “Will you say this today? ‘This is the day that my life begins to turn around!’ ” 4

To which I added, “I don’t want to settle for my past I want to strive ahead for my future #shame_b_gone”
