Embrace Your Fears Safely – 3 Things To Remember

Posted on Thursday, May 26, 2011 in Uncategorized

Life is scary sometimes; scary, for all of us.

Like this little guy  ——————————————->

we all know how it feels to feel afraid, timid or fearful.

When we’re facing something that feels unsafe there are some keys to coping.  These keys help us to learn how to embrace our fears safely.  I ask, can I make it through this?

“God asks suffering people, “how can I comfort you? How great is your pain? … how can I heal your wounds, gaping as wide as the sea?” * Wounds, “gaping as wide as the sea.” Many of you know what that feels like. I’ve never talked with an honest person who didn’t have pain in her or his life.

Life Is Hard

We all have pain. We all need healing. Sometimes God’s healing “voice” is clear in our hearts and minds and souls. Most of the time I hear God through my Bible, through Christ-like people and through courageous people who embrace their pain courageously enough to include me on their journey.

Courage come hard unless people have hope. Hope seems impossible for those who don’t know if they “can make it” through this pain-filled time of life.

3 Things To Remember When You Wonder If You Can Make It

1. Remember your pain. You’re growth had it own pains.

2. Remember your roots. You’re roots will help you endure the storms.

3. Remember your resources. When you rely on God instead of yourself you will gain strength.

God is our source. God has also chosen to use people to help one another as resources. You and I are resources for one another.

My favorite part of our support groups is how many people — teens and parents both — begin at TreeHouse feeling like “I’m the only one who …” until they realize that they are “not alone”. We’ve felt like they’ve felt.

Steve Camp’s Do You Feel Their Pain?

Do you feel their pain, has it touched your life?

Can you taste the salt in the tears they cry?

Will you love them more than the hate that’s been?

Will you love them back to life again?

Even if our circumstances differ, we can relate. We can share their journey since we have or have had the very same feelings that they do in the midst of our own journey.

If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.” **

Embrace others in pain today. Tomorrow they’ll be strong enough to help you when you need it.
