Amazing Watermelon Seeds

Posted on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in Uncategorized

What is something that amazes you?

In our garden we planted a watermelon plant. From one single seed amazing things happen:

– Watermelon seeds have the ability to drawing resources from the ground.
– Watermelon seeds develop a hard armor that looks a work of art.
– Watermelon seeds create a 2nd line of defense, a white rind.
– Watermelon seeds rest in a red heart inlaid with black seeds capable of reproducing.

Each of those watermelon seeds is capable of becoming a watermelon 200,000 times its weight.

While the mystery of a watermelon seed is about growing more and more.
God wants to be so close to us that God’s power can grow in us more and more too.

God’s Power, God’s Grace

The word grace means undeserved blessing. Last week I was reminded by a new friend Victoria that grace as an acronym G.R.A.C.E. is nicely summarized as “God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.”

God wants to bless all of us.

If you have chosen to follow Jesus Christ you have already begun to experience some of the blessings of God.

God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. ~~ Romans 5:20

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. ~~ 2 Corinthians 3:18

God wants to give you and I undeserved gifts. One of them is to see God accurately. The more you get to know God the more you will want to know God.

Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? ~~ Romans 6:1-2

God wants to set us free from our sins, the weeds that so easily screw up our garden.

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace. ~~ 1 Peter 1:2

All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. ~~ 2 Corinthians 4:15

Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ… ~~ Ephesians 4:15

What will happen when you choose to follow Jesus Christ?

May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord…May God give you more and more mercy, peace, and love. ~~ 2 Peter 1:2, Jude 1:2

… your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. ~~ Philippians 1:9

Love overflowing — more and more — that would make for a wonderful world.
