Yesterday was Valentines Day. Yesterday was also the anniversary of the legend of the green hippo. If you don’t know that story or want another opportunity to laugh at me, feel free to read it again in Sex, Lies & the Truth – Pt 3 of 3 – The Truth.
I’m trying to grow up, grow more appreciative, take my Valentine less for granted, show the love I think of, feel the love that lives within and follow her example of generosity.
I worked a fourteen-hour day yesterday, but I still got a couple things right.
4 Things I Got Right
1. I reminded my Valentine how much I appreciated her.
2. I received her gift warmly; and then ate some of the chocolate.
3. I did not demand anything of her.
4. I was smart enough to ask what color roses she wanted. The secret was out, but at least I learned that even though her favorite color is yellow, on Valentines Day her favorite color roses is red.
We’ve been going out for 9561 days now. How? I am continually looking to improve as a Valentine. I know she deserves better than what I bring. So, my self-improvement plan includes asking God for help: “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” 1
This is my struggle. This is mysilentscream.
