Headlines announce the news of the day.
You a Jersey Shore fan? Did you know that ‘Jersey Shore’ star Snooki was hit with $7 Million lawsuit?
Maybe you love Jersey but don’t care about Jersey Shore. Did you know that, All 5 aboard a plane died when it crashed ON an interstate highway in New Jersey? Or, maybe you heard that Jersey-born Jon Bon Jovi was dead?
We want to know accurate information. We want to know the truth.
No, Jon Bon Jovi is not dead.
On the other hand, yes, Batman fans, it’s true, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ trailer hit iTunes! Or, better yet, you can watch the Dark Knight trailer here on YouTube!
Whether you care about any of that or not, this week I know two things are true for me and for you:
We want to feel happy.
We want our lives to improve.
Fortunately, real change is not only possible, it’s practical!
Make Your Life Better
This week as you and I gather with family and friends we will need communication skills. Some of you have natural woo and charisma. The rest of us need what you naturally have.
Here are fifteen excellent tips to improve your Christmas parties, family gatherings and feasts with friends:
Choose to be kind.
– Help prepare.
– Help cleanup.
Choose to share your experiences with one another.
– What are you excited about? Talk about it.
- Just as important, choose to patiently listen to others.
- Ignore your phone — maybe even turn it off for a while.
- Listen to, and learn about what the people you’re with care about.
Choose to respect people you don’t like.
– We can choose to tolerate your differences.
– We can choose to talk things out rather than stuff your annoyances.
Choose to bring happiness.
– If you hug people, give everyone hugs.
– We can all choose to forget the drama.
– We can all choose to forgive the guilty. 1
1 – Quick reminder: Forgiveness is a decision to no longer hold something over someone’s head. You and I can genuinely forgive people without choosing to trust the other person. In fact, choosing to trust untrustworthy people is foolish.
FYI, there is a life-transforming benefit to forgiving others! Whether you know it or not, “If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, (God) your Father in heaven will forgive you. But if you don’t forgive others, your Father (God) will not forgive your sins.“
2 – And, you’re right — you clever readers who noticed — that list was originally posted in Cut Resentment Cultivate Freedom! You get a star! *
